Since 1987… FM Guiding Services, owner-operator Wes Takahashi, has been working as a tidal water, salmon fishing guide in Bute Inlet and the surrounding waters of the Discovery Islands, northeast of Campbell River, BC.

FM Guiding Services (FMGS), seasonally based on Stuart Island, BC,  provides unique guest experiences in these remote, calm-water environments by offering custom salmon-fishing charters and eco-adventure tours that benefit from Wes’ 35 years of experience fishing and navigating these waters.

Vessel and Certification

FM Guiding Services' owner/operator, Wes Takahashi, is Transport Canada certified and fully insured.

Transport Canada Certifications:

• Small Vessel Operating Permit (SVOP)
• Marine Emergency Duties (MED-A3)
• Marine Basic First Aid
• Radio Operator Permit (ROC-M)

My vessel, a Pursuit 2350WA, is Transport Canada compliant and powered with a Yamaha F250 main engine and Yamaha F8 auxiliary.  It has comfortable, fixed seating for 3 passengers and has a forward, enclosed compartment equipped with a marine head.

Electronics by Lowrance: Radar, GPS, depth sounder and radio.

Fishing Equipment: Scotty downriggers and Sage fishing rods with Trophy XL reels.
